ADI Awards Competition for Case Study or Short Research Paper

The ADI invites postgraduate students (e.g. Dipl, MSc, PhD) and Clinicians to submit abstracts for case studies or short research papers. The authors of the best four submissions will be invited to give an oral presentation of their case study or research paper at this awards competition. A panel comprising ADI President Professor Cemal Ucer and ADI Scientific Co-ordinator Professor Eddie Scher will judge the best presentation overall and a prize of £500 will be awarded.

Oral Presentation Wednesday 1 May 2013

Duration: the oral presentation of the case study or short research paper should be no more than 10 minutes followed by 5 minutes for Q&As.

Requirements: Abstract: 200 words to include:

Case Presentations:
Introduction, Treatment Objectives, Treatment provided, Outcome, Discussion & Conclusions
Short Research Paper:
Introduction, Objectives, Literature Review, Methodology, Results, Discussion & Conclusions

Deadline for submissions

Please complete and submit application by 8 February 2013 by post or fax to the ADI office (PDF form available here) or submit via online form.

The Scientific Committee will assess all submitted abstracts. By 15 February 2013, successful authors will be invited to give an oral presentation on Wednesday 1 May 2013, where a prize of £500 will be awarded to the best overall presentation.

By submitting a case study the author confirms that he/she has obtained appropriate patient consent for publication of any patient specific material including copies of images/radiographs even if these are included anonymously.

Quality Assessment

The suitableness of a manuscript for publication will be assessed on evaluation of the following key quality assurance criteria by the editorial board.

Relevance
Evidence Based: The work is supported by good critical appraisal of the currently
Ethics: Principles of privacy, confidentiality, and informed consent have been maintained. Ethics approval has been obtained when relevant
Clarity and coherence: The work has been written with clarity and is coherent throughout
Quality of Images: The images, photographs, and illustrations are relevant, informative and of acceptable quality
Impartiality and bias: The author has maintained impartiality and the content is free of any undue bias
Conflict of Interest: Any potential source of conflict of interest (financial, employment, affiliation with institutions/companies, consultancies, company support, research funding etc.)
