Join the ADI East Central Study Club with your Host Mr Abdulwahab Zidan and Speaker Dr Ricky Bhopal for the first Study Club in the region of 2026.
This session will explore the key principles behind successful full-arch prosthetic treatment, focusing on meticulous planning, common clinical pitfalls, and strategies to achieve predictable, long-term outcomes. Drawing on real-world cases and practical insights, delegates will gain a clearer understanding of how to reduce risk, improve accuracy, and enhance confidence when delivering full-arch solutions. An essential session for clinicians looking to refine their approach and achieve consistently reliable results in full-arch implant dentistry.
MORE ABOUT YOUR HOST - MR ABDULWAHAB ZIDAN
Mr Zidan obtained his Bachelor in Dentistry & Oral Surgery BDS Degree in 2003. He then worked for one year as general dental practitioner. In 2005, he spent several years at the Oral & Maxillofacial units in Libya.
Since 2011 he has trained and worked at Oral & Maxillofacial units across the UK including Wihpps Cross Hospital/Royal London Hospital, Queens Hospital Romford and Norfolk & Norwich NHS University Hospital.
He is now based at Colchester Hospital Oral Surgery Department. Here he has gained substantial experience in surgical dentistry.
In 2015 Mr Zidan completed his MSc Dental Implant & Oral Surgery Training at University of Warwick and he spent 2 years extra training between Whipps Cross NHS University Hospital and Dental Implant Institute in Harley Street London.
For the past 15 years Mr Zidan has been working in Oral and Maxillofacial/Oral Surgery/Oral Medicine and Dental Implants.
Within this time, he has helped with the assessment, diagnosis and management for patients presenting with oral surgery/oral medicine which includes patients who are anxious and need the option to have IV sedation. He has also been providing implants, non-surgical facial aesthetics dermal fillers and botox in this time.
This journey has led him to be invited to speak at prestigious international conferences and teaching courses and given him the opportunity to be a member of the British Association of Oral Surgery BAOS and a Committee Member at Association Dental Implant ADI in the UK. Mr Zidan routinely mentors other trainee dentists using the latest skills and techniques.
Mr Zidan has a continuing passion and commitment to his work, teaching and keeping up to date with the latest surgical innovations and research to ensure his patients are receiving the best possible care and his practice.
MORE ABOUT YOUR SPEAKER - Dr Ricky Bhopal
Ricky is a UK specialist prosthodontist who enjoys tackling complex restorative and implant cases. He graduated with BDS Honours from the University of Manchester in 2014 and went on to build experience across both general practice and hospital dentistry, including working as a Senior House Officer in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.
He completed his specialist training in Prosthodontics at Guy’s Hospital and King’s College London, graduating with Distinction, and now focuses on advanced restorative care including crowns, bridges, dentures and dental implants. Ricky is one of a small number of specialists in the UK to hold membership with both the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and England, and has been appointed as an examiner for national specialist fellowship exams.
Alongside clinical work, Ricky is heavily involved in education and the wider profession. He sits on the board of the Association of Dental Implantology and has chaired the ADI Next Gen committee for the past two years, roles that reflect his interest in supporting young dentists and keeping standards high without taking himself too seriously.
AIM
To share a practical, prosthodontic approach to planning full-arch cases, focusing on where things commonly go wrong and how to improve predictability in real-world practice.

By the end of this Study Club, participants will be able to:
- Plan full-arch cases more systematically, with diagnosis and prosthodontic principles driving decisions
- Spot the common pitfalls that lead to biological, mechanical, or aesthetic problems
- Factor patient risk, expectations, and maintenance into case selection and consent
- Use provisionals more effectively to test function, aesthetics, and occlusion
- Make clearer decisions between fixed and removable options
- Communicate plans more confidently with patients and the wider team

Artsy Image, 2 Pheonix Court offers excellent onsite free car parking.
- Leave the A12 at Colchester — the A12 is the main road running through Essex and connects to Colchester from both the south (towards London) and the north-east.
- Head towards Colchester town centre via the Colchester Eastern Approach (this follows the inner ring road system).
- At the roundabout on the Eastern Approach, take the exit signposted for the Hawkins Road industrial area.
- Continue along Hawkins Road and then turn right into Phoenix Court; Unit 2 will be on this road.
- Phoenix Court is on the east side of Colchester City Centre, accessed off Hawkins Road near the Whitehall Industrial Estate and Hythe area.
