Presented by: Selvaraj Balaji
Host: Derek Bingham
Date: 2 September 2019
Time: 1900 Refreshments 1930 Lecture
Location: Crowne Plaza, Shaws Bridge, Belfast, BT8 7XP

The treatment of patients with severely resorbed edentulous jaws using osseointegrated dental implants remains one of the most challenging goals in implant dentistry.

The long-term success and use of implants depends on the amount of adequate quantity and quality of jawbone and soft tissue available. In every-day implant practice it is common to see a patient with hard and soft tissue defect.

Different types of augmentation techniques have been used in implant dentistry. Grafting/augmentation/regeneration requires different types of materials and techniques used in implant dentistry. I would like to discuss the material and technique I use in my day to day implant practice, using representative cases.

Learning objectives:

  • To learn about the principles of hard and soft tissue augmentation
  • To understand when and where to use augmentation
  • To develop knowledge of the current material and technique available for bone augmentation
  • To learn about vertical/horizontal bone augmentation
  • To learn about soft tissue regeneration in implant dentistry
  • Techniques
  • Complications
