Download Event to Calendar

Presented by: Stephen Jacobs
Host: Guy Laffan
Date: 13 June 2019
Time: 1900 Refreshments 1930 Lecture
Location: The Celtic Manor Resort, Coldra Woods, The Usk Valley, Newport, South Wales, NP18 1HQ

This lecture will consider the difficult issue of defining, diagnosing and managing dental implants with peri-implantitis. The presentation will ask the questions as to the exact definition and etiology of this non-specific disease entity and will describe the new classification of periimplant disease. Based on certain classifications, guidance can then be obtained on the options to manage and treat the condition. It will focus on various therapies including the use of certain specific antimicrobials. It will focus on risks and complications and consider the alternative approaches of tissue regeneration versus pocket/defect elimination. Consideration will also be given as to whether peri-implantitis is a condition of a primary infective nature or an opportunistic secondary infection subsequent to bone loss caused by other etiologies.
