Dr Ainsworth will present his experience of utilising novel treatment modalities in the last few years in the management of failing partial arch bridgework.

From a patient perspective anxiety and discomfort in the transition from failing partial arch bridge work can be significant as often the only solution is a removable partial denture as a transitional appliance. The use of intra oral welding and durable frameworks has transformed our ability to immediately load cases of this nature with a high degree of predictability. This brief overview will aim to introduce welding as a technique, looking to case selection treatment planning and the methodology when managing the case in surgery.

Learning objectives:

  • To introduce the concept of intraoral welding
  • To understand where this is applicable in implant practice
  • To understand the treatment planning pathway and case selection for this treatment modality
  • To debate the differentiation between a temporary and permanent restoration
  • To consider different analogue and digital workflows
