To provide delegates with a comprehensive understanding and
practical competence in performing crestal (transcrestal) and
lateral window sinus lift procedures using the latest Evertis
instrumentation and surgical kit. The course focuses on safe,
predictable sinus elevation and bone grafting techniques to enable
successful implant placement in the posterior maxilla
Aims & Objectives
Learning Objectives
1. Anatomy & Radiographic Assessment
* Understand the detailed anatomy of the maxillary sinus
* Identify the Schneiderian membrane, sinus septa, and vascular
supply relevant to surgical planning.
* Interpret radiographs and CBCT images to assess sinus floor
height, membrane thickness, and anatomical variations.
2. Indications, Case Selection & Treatment Planning
* Recognise indications and contraindications for crestal and
lateral sinus lift approaches.
* Differentiate between the two techniques based on available
bone height, sinus anatomy, and implant position.
* Plan appropriate timing for implant placement (simultaneous vs
staged).
3. Surgical Technique - Crestal Approach
* Understand the step-by-step crestal (transalveolar) sinus lift
procedure.
* Learn drill sequencing, depth control, and hydraulic or
osteotome-assisted elevation techniques.
* Discuss graft placement and implant stability following crestal
elevation.
4. Surgical Technique - Lateral Window Approach
* Learn the sequential steps for creating a lateral window in the
maxillary sinus.
* Master membrane elevation techniques and safe handling of
delicate sinus tissues.
* Review graft placement, membrane coverage, and closure
methods.
5. Materials & Biological Considerations
* Review the biological principles of bone regeneration and sinus
graft healing.
* Compare graft materials (autogenous, xenograft, allograft,
synthetic) and membranes.
* Discuss criteria for choosing materials for crestal and lateral
sinus lifts.
6. Complication Management
* Identify intraoperative complications such as membrane
perforation, bleeding, or sinus exposure.
* Learn methods to repair or manage complications and ensure
successful outcomes.
* Review postoperative care and management of sinus-related
complications.
7. Evidence & Long-Term Outcomes
* Evaluate literature on success rates, bone gain, and implant survival
following sinus augmentation.
* Compare outcomes between crestal and lateral approaches.
* Discuss long-term maintenance protocols.
8. Patient Communication, Consent & Ethical Considerations
* Communicate treatment options, risks, and benefits clearly to patients.
* Obtain informed consent for sinus augmentation procedures.
* Set realistic expectations and explain postoperative care.
H a n d s - O n C o m p o n e n t
Crestal Aproach Exercise ( o n Eggs):
* Practice sinus membrane elevation using egg models to simulate the
delicate Schneiderian membrane.
* Develop tactile feedback and depth control during the crestal drilling
process.
* Understand safe pressure limits and the role of hydraulic or osteotome
techniques.
Lateral Approach Exercise (on Models):
* Perform a lateral window sinus lift on anatomic training models.
* Learn flap design, window preparation, membrane elevation, and graft
placement.
* Practice membrane coverage and suturing techniques.
Benefits
Course Outcomes
* Understand both crestal and lateral sinus lift procedures from start to
finish.
* Demonstrate safe and controlled technique for sinus membrane
elevation.
* Be able to select appropriate cases and manage complications
confidently.
* Integrate sinus augmentation procedures into everyday implant
