Your Study Club host has organised something a little different to kick of 2023 Study Clubs in the South West. As our largest study club area, you often need to travel quite a distance to attend a study club. Now you have the option to stay in the beautiful surroundings of Bowood Hotel Spa & Golf resort, with usage of the facilities. Come and stay with us on Friday 3rd March, have an inclusive breakfast, learn from the best speakers, and then use the Spa or Golf facilities in the afternoon. Bring a partner to use the facilites if you wish, book an extra night on the Saturday 4th to make a weekend of it (please book the extra night with the hotel directly). You are also welcome to just come along for the study club lecture and lunch if you wish.

Dr Amit Patel's Learning Objectives: 

  • Discuss how to implement the new periodontal classification in general practice
  • How to diagnosis periodontal disease and to manage it for the whole team
  • The maintenance of periodontal disease and the patients role in stabilising this
  • When to extract teeth and to consider dental implants as an option

 Dr Pynadath George's Learning Objectives: 

  • To diagnosis the SEVERELY atrophic jaw
  • To foster an understanding of the issues dental and medical that surround edentulous patients
  • How to manage and treat patients in general practice with edentulous jaws
  • How to approach and treat the atrophic jaws with implants placed outside the maxilla

 

Biography

Dr Amit Patel

Amit is the principal specialist and director at Birmingham Dental Specialists in Birmingham. His special interests are dental implants, regenerative and aesthetic Periodontics.

Amit graduated from the University of Liverpool and completed a 4-year specialist training programme in Periodontics at Guy’s, King’s & St Thomas’ Dental Institute. Amit was an Associate Specialist in Periodontics at the Birmingham Dental School for 9 years and is still an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry . He has taught at undergraduate and postgraduate level, including lecturing to dental practitioners both in the UK and internationally. Amit is currently the Priesident of the Association of Dental Implantology. 


Dr Pynadath George 

Dr Pynadath George is at the forefront of teaching and mentoring Full Arch Implant Dentistry and bone grafting. He has been running Implant courses since 2014 and has trained numerous dentists since then.

Dr George’s scope of practice is limited to advanced restorative dentistry involving implants including advanced bone grafting and  complex full arch cases such as pterygoid and zygomatic implants.

He previously taught Restorative Dentistry and Implantology as a Teacher/Lecturer in Liverpool University Dental School and worked as an Associate Specialist in a tertiary level hospital, treating cancer patients with fixed and removal prosthetics utilising implants.

Dr George completed his Membership Diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons, a Master's degree from The Eastman (UCL), a Master's degree from Warwick Medical School and his Doctorate with specialist training in Oral Surgery from the University of Edinburgh.
