Overview
We look forward to welcoming our members to last Northen Ireland Study Club of the year with Dr Stefan Berger PhD, who will be presenting on the topic of Ridge Preservation and Augmentation after Tooth Extraction.
Learning Objectives:
- Difference between preservation and augmentation
- Why xenografts are mostly not resorbable but allografts are
- Why non-resorbable bone grafts retard healing and limit new bone formation
- Different bone to implant contacts when different bone grafts have been used
- Long term risks of remnants of non-resorbable bone grafts
- Impact of type of bone graft material on implant failure rate (early implant loss and peri-implant defects)
Biography
Stefan has a diploma in Biomedical Engineering and a doctorate in Material Sciences. He joined Zimmer Biomet in 2010 as a Product Manager and Product Specialist for Regenerative Materials. In his current role, Stefan is responsible for product introductions, product launches and post market product experiences. His 17 years’ experience in medical devices and human tissue product covers basic research, product development, regulatory requirements and product management.
