Elaine qualified as a dental hygienist in the Royal Air Force (RAF) in 1982, serving at home and abroad in clinical and tutoring roles. Her military career culminated in a six year tour as the Principal Tutor of the Defence Dental Agency Dental Hygienist Training School where she was responsible for training dental hygienists for the three armed services. Since leaving the RAF in 2002, Elaine has been employed as the Clinical Education and Project Manager for TePe UK, where she is responsible for designing and implementing educational programmes for the dental profession and the general public. Elaine is an active member of the British Society of Dental Hygiene and Therapy (BSDHT), and is a member of the publications team. Committed to the team ethic in health promotion, Elaine is a Fellow of the Society of British Dental Nurses and is a member of the editorial board for Primary Dental Care. She has recently been appointed as a member of the panel of experts for the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE).
