Claire McCarthy is faculty at NYU and teaches postgraduate periodontology and implant dentistry as adjunct professor and programme coordinator. A graduate of Trinity College Dublin, she has 22 years of clinical expertise and 15 years as faculty on BDS, MSc and DHT programmes in the UK and US. She completed a Master’s Degree in Education in 2007 and is a fellow of the Higher Education Academy. As a clinical educator she has achieved several recognized qualifications and credentials in formal education, built an established career in formal dental education and created an online platform to provide resources and training for clinicians. She has presented her work nationally and internationally. Claire is passionate about non-surgical periodontal and implant therapy, behaviour change and disease prevention. In her spare time, she supports dental student initiatives to promote oral health to deprived populations, targeting homeless communities in London. Claire regularly writes for press, consults as a KOL, works on clinical trials, and is a member of BSDHT, ADHA, IDHA, ADI and the BSP.
