Rachel Hughes is a qualified and registered dental nurse and her career experience in dentistry spans across 20 years working in Birmingham Hospital, corporate dentistry and practice.
For the last 11 years she has worked at JM Dental Care, an established private family practice based in Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands, offering general dentistry as well as services such as short-term orthodontic solutions, facial aesthetics and dental implants. Eight years ago alongside her practice manager they implemented the role of a treatment coordinator and the systems required for the role to go from strength to strength. The role was further developed to encompass that of a dental nurse’s extended scope of practice, and so born was the role of a clinical treatment coordinator, a role that complements and works closely with specialist services such as short-term orthodontics and implantology, removing non-clinical dentistry and treatments that take up valuable diary time for a clinician.
