President's Welcome

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

I have great pleasure in announcing the ADI Team Congress 2015 and inviting you to participate. We are taking the meeting to a brand new venue: Scottish Exhibition and Conference Centre (SECC), Glasgow – fresh from its role as the media centre for the XX Commonwealth Games; the venue is outstanding in all respects.

The biennial ADI Team Congress has now become the leading dental implant meeting in the United Kingdom and one of the foremost in Europe, with the unique combination of a plenary programme with internationally renowned speakers, parallel sessions for all dental care professionals, a large exhibition and a fantastic party.

The ADI Team Congress format aims to involve and educate the entire dental implant team, with a high-quality scientific Plenary Programme for Clinicians running alongside a Technician Programme and a Team Programme, which includes sessions for Dental Nurses & Practice Managers and Hygienists & Therapists.

The title, ‘Implant Dentistry Moving Forward: Experience - Evidence - Excellence’ encompasses an important triad that we as individuals and teams alike strive to fulfil in all that we do clinically. To discuss these aspects in relation to dental implantology, we have enlisted the input of an outstanding faculty of globally renowned experts.

The scientific programme is really a result of the commitment and dedication of the ADI Scientific Coordinator Stephen Jacobs. I would like to thank him for putting together a unique and exciting programme, which is certain to be stimulating, invigorating and thought provoking. This input into the Plenary Programme was equalled by the sterling efforts of Steve Campbell for the Technician Programme, and Juliette Reeves and Linda Warren for the Team Programme, who have put together an outstanding agenda covering many important and interesting aspects for all levels and experiences in the team.

In addition to the Plenary Programme, the Congress will include some innovative changes. Firstly, we will include pre-Congress Corporate Forum sessions to allow our industry partners an opportunity to highlight their current focus areas, with their own format and speakers in their own unique ways. Secondly, we have included a unique Audience Response Session (ARS), allowing the audience ‘at the moment’ interaction specific to a treatment scenario, when debated by three of our global faculty. I am indebted to Michael Norton for agreeing to chair this, the first ARS session at an ADI Congress.

There is, as always, a monumental effort by the office team in organising and making ideas and plans a reality. Neelam Bhanot has assumed overall responsibility and there is no-one better at delivering what they promise. Tim, Katharine, Meryl, Nathan and Dorothy have provided support and been more than willing to deliver upon delegated tasks.

The ADI Committee give their time and effort for the association and I thank all of the current ADI Committee for their input, support and enthusiasm, not only in the organisation of the Congress, but throughout my time as ADI President.

The ADI Team Congress is extremely well supported by the dental implant industry. We hope you will enjoy the Congress Exhibition, which will be open throughout the event, showcasing all that is new in the implant dentistry industry.

To complement the education programme, the ADI Team Congress 2015 will be hosting two key social events, for entertainment, enjoyment, relaxation and excellent networking opportunities. The ADI Congress Drinks Reception is complimentary for all delegates and held on the first night of the Congress, within the Exhibition Hall.

‘A Night at the Museum’ is the Congress dinner event, to be held at the stunning and renowned Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, and promises to be a memorable night with dinner, drinks and dancing within a breathtaking environment, with a few surprises to look out for.

I look forward to welcoming you, and hopefully all of your team, in Glasgow in May.

Philip Friel
ADI President (2013 - 2015)
