SUMMARY:Plymouth Study Club
UID:470
DESCRIPTION:In 2014\, after two years of trying to make sense of a patient’s concerns\, Geoff received notice of a fitness to practice complaint from the GDC. The case went through three stages. Each took one year. The culmination was five days in front of committee. He was found to have no case to answer. \n\nThis lecture will illustrate the many advantages of short implants that can help solve many complex implant cases. One such case will be used to demonstrate how careful record keeping\, assertive and swift responses can keep you out of trouble but not necessarily away from the GDC.\n\nLearning Objectives\n\nTo learn about the design characteristics of short implantsTo learn the significant difference in bone healing between different implant macrogeometriesTo understand how to use short implants to their best advantage and to understand why they work so wellTo understand how approaches to full arch cases have evolved in response to issues of implant maintenance and material weaknesses
