DESCRIPTION:The current definition of ridge atrophy will lay down the foundation for this discussion. We will then go on a journey to see how we can tackle ridge atrophy in general practice in a predictable way. From short implants to cross-arch fixed bridges we will discuss the alternatives and look at clinical cases to determine the role of GDPs that want to manage these cases either by themselves or by referral.\n\nAims of the Meeting:\n\nTo define ridge atrophy as we know it now compared to the pastTo know what makes an implant short as opposed to conventionalTo discuss the All-on-‘X’ theory and where did it originateTo discuss alternatives to short or angled implantsTo discuss the role of the GDP in these casesObjectives of the Meeting:\n\nUnderstand how alveolar atrophy limits the availability of bone for optimal dental implant placementWhen to consider the use of short implants and/ or angled implantsLearn the use of angled implants and abutments when the use of a conventional placement is suboptimalHow to achieve a positive outcome with a variety of treatment protocols – real life casesHard/Soft Tissue management in complex casesLong term maintenance of cases which exhibit ridge atrophy
