DESCRIPTION:									WHY ATTEND			This Study Club explores the challenges associated with misplaced or failed dental implants\, focusing on the key clinical\, surgical and prosthodontic factors contributing to such outcomes. It aims to support clinicians in decision-making between maintenance and explantation\, while critically assessing the viability and limitations of retreatment.\n\n			Emphasis is placed on managing patient expectations and delivering predictable outcomes.\n\n			The evening also provides an overview of the hard and soft tissue grafting techniques often required in retreatment cases\, equipping delegates with the knowledge to approach complex implant scenarios with greater confidence.\n\n									Learning objectives									Reflect and consider in terms of planning\, surgery and prosthodontic reason for misplaced or failed implants.\n			 \n\n									To understand the factors that determine maintenance versus explanation.\n			 \n\n									To manage selective viability of repeat treatment and its limitations.\n			 \n\n									Managing the patient’s expectations of what can be achieved from re-treatment.\n			 \n\n									Understand hard and soft tissue grafting that is required with retreatment.\n			 \n\n									This CPD course meets the criteria for the GDC’s development outcomes A and C\n\n																					ABOUT THE SPEAKER			► Dr. Paul swanson			Paul Swanson BDS MFGDPUK DipImpDentRCSEng MSc (Implant) received a Diploma in Implant Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons England and an Advanced certificate in Bone Grafting from the RCS in 2008. He then completed the Master of Science Degree in Implant Dentistry from Queen Mary University London. He owns a specialist referral practice in Liverpool and contributes to the multidisciplinary cases done by his team.\n\n			Paul mentors’ dentists at both entry and advanced level and contributes to study clubs in his region.
