DESCRIPTION: WHY ATTEND As the global placement of dental implants continues to rise\, peri-implant disease remains a central challenge to long-term implant success. This lecture foregrounds the critical role of the periodontist in implant therapy decision-making and treatment in biologic principles rather than simply placing a hardware. We will be discussing how to Locate implant planning within the context of existing periodontal disease and periodontal health history\, recognizing how periodontitis and systemic factors influence esthetic outcomes and implant stability. This aligns with cross-journal consensus that periodontitis is a meaningful risk indicator for peri-implant disease\, and that optimizing periodontal health prior to and during implant care improves prognosis (Zitzmann & Berglundh\, 2008).\n\n \n The lecture will also demonstrate how to apply periodontal principles to bone and soft tissue management to achieve better esthetic results\, proper tissue support\, and functional stability around implants. Long-term maintenance\, prevention\, and early detection\, supportive care after peri-implant therapy can reduce recurrence or progression. Regular recalls tailored to individual risk profiles\, including plaque control and systemic risk management (e.g.\, glycemic control\, smoking cessation)\, are consistently recommended to support implant longevity.\n\n Learning objectives Evaluate the Role of Periodontal Disease in Implant Decision-Making and treatment planning.\n			 \n\n Analyze Risk Factors Affecting Implant Success.\n			 \n\n Apply Periodontal Principles to Bone and Soft Tissue Management for better esthetic results.\n			 \n\n Develop Strategies for Long-Term Implant Maintenance and prevent early peri-implant disease\n\n ABOUT THE SPEAKER ► Dr. Lobna Alghazal Dr. Lobna Alghazal distinguished herself as one of the top students at Benghazi University (UOB)\, where she completed her five-year dental degree. Following graduation\, she gained valuable clinical experience over four years as a general dentist. Inspired by her mother and sister—both specialist periodontists trained at Trinity University—she chose to pursue a career in Periodontology\, continuing a strong family legacy in the field.\n\n In 2014\, Dr. Alghazal successfully completed a rigorous three-year specialist training programme in Periodontology and Implant Surgery at Trinity University. She further advanced her professional credentials by obtaining Membership in Dental Surgery\, followed by a Fellowship in Periodontology and Implant Surgery from the prestigious Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.\n\n In addition to her clinical achievements\, Dr. Alghazal has contributed to academic dentistry\, holding a teaching position at Trinity University for three years\, where she was involved in educating both undergraduate dental students and dental hygienists.\n\n Dr. Alghazal has worked across a wide range of general and specialist dental practices throughout Ireland\, gaining extensive experience in both routine and complex periodontal care. She is the founder and owner of Keystone Periodontics\, a multi-specialist practice dedicated to delivering high-quality\, patient-focused care.\n\n She remains actively engaged in her profession as a member of both the Irish Society of Periodontology and the European Federation of Periodontology.\n\n DELEGATE PRICING ► ADI Member - FREE\n\n ► Non-Member - £75 (Clinicians\, Technicians and Companies)\n\n ► Non-Member - £25 (Dental Therapists\, Nurses\, Practice Managers)\n\n			 \n\n EXHIBITOR INFORMATION Exhibition opportunities are available exclusively to ADI Company members.\n The cost to exhibit is £250 + VAT.\n To secure your stand\, please book via the event page.\n\n												 			 						 \n\n
