DESCRIPTION:Management of the Posterior MaxillaThe maxillary sinus influences many cases and dictates how and where we can place implants.\n\nHistorically the sinus lift technique was frequently our "go to" procedure to augment bone.\n\nBut this adds complexity\, time and expense!\n\nWe now have modern engineering and techniques that reduce our need for sinus augmentation.\n\nSo if you want to increase your case acceptance and learn how to manage challenging cases more easily\, then a full understanding of the range of options available is crucial.\n\nMark Willings has over 30 years experience with dental implants. He has seen the evolution from iliac crest block reconstruction as a routine approach to the maxillary sinus. To less invasive approaches which he now routinely employs and achieves excellent\, consistent results with reduced morbidity and fewer complications.\n\nMark will speak about this evolution and show how you can manage many cases with reduced bone volume in the posterior maxilla without the need for an open lateral window approach.  Using examples of cases using block grafts and particulate lateral window approaches\, through to use of “Max” and Pterygoid implants.\n\nAnd will cover techniques including Summers lift using conventional osteotomes and the use of Versah burs.\n\nLearning objectives:• Understand how techniques have developed and radically changed in the management of the atrophic posterior maxilla.\n\n• Identify in which clinical cases these new approaches would be beneficial.\n\n• Discuss and demonstrate with patients what is current best practice in management of the posterior maxilla.\n\n
