SUMMARY:Webinar: Treatment of the Severely Atrophic Maxilla – The Zygomatic Implant
UID:1393
DESCRIPTION:Treating the severely atrophic maxilla has long been considered the remit of maxillofacial surgeons with extensive bone/iliac crest grafting\, requiring hospital admission\, lengthy recovery and extended treatment times. This has understandably led to poor patient uptake of these complex procedures.\n\nThe zygomatic implant offers a treatment alternative to major grafting\, which can be carried out in the practice setting under local anaesthetic and conscious sedation. The high stability achieved with this implant allows for immediate loading. The zygomatic implant can be combined with either anterior axial implants or for severely atrophic\, with two zygomatic implants each side (Quad zygoma).\n\nLearning Objectives\n\nYou will learn about the following:\n\nClassification of atrophic maxillaTreatment alternatives for the atrophic maxillaMajor grafting procedures with clinical cases\, including complicationsThe zygoma implant including indications\, planning\, use of stereolithographic models\, technique and recent advancesUse of the zygoma implant as a “rescue implant” for failing implants
