DESCRIPTION:In order to improve the outcomes of implant treatments in highly aesthetic areas and to prevent ridge collapse post extraction\, a number of techniques have been proposed and developed over the years.  More recently\, the concept of ‘socket shield’ or ‘root membrane’ treatment has been growing in popularity and shown great results.\n\nSome may feel indefinitely leaving a root fragment adjacent to an implant is bound to cause problems\, but the evidence in the literature shows otherwise.\n\nIn this presentation\, Yusuf will describe the rationale of such a treatment and explore the types of cases where it can have the biggest impact.
