Hands-on Workshops for Dentists

We are pleased to announce that for the first time ever we will be arranging hands-on workshops for dentists at the ADI Team Congress.

These are a great opportunity to get expert guidance on the latest developments, tools and techniques in the implant market.

Hands-on workshops will take place on Thursday 26 May, and seven workshops will be available to select from - see details below. Each workshop will have a small number of participants and will be either a morning or afternoon session (each workshop will be given twice, giving delegates more opportunities to attend their chosen session).

These sessions are only available to Congress delegates and cost from just £150 per workshop (they are not included in the Congress 2-day package).

We expect the hands-on workshops to be extremely popular - book now to avoid disappointment!

Add hands-on workshops to an existing Congress booking using the instructions below:

1) Log into your ADI account on the ADI website.

2) Click ‘My ADI Event Attendance’ in the toolbar.

3) Click ‘View all of your bookings’.

4) Find your Congress booking and click ‘View booking details’ which will appear underneath.

This will show you your existing booking. Just below this, it should say ‘additional options’ which when expanded will allow you to view the hands-on workshops for AM & PM. You can then select the session(s) that you’d like to attend and this will add them to your basket where you can proceed to payment.

If you need assistance with your booking, please email info@adi.org.uk

The Next Generation Alternative to Connective Tissue Grafts

Timings

09:30 – 12:30

Dr Paul Swanson & Prof. Marc Quirynen

14:00 – 17:00

Dr Paul Swanson & Prof. Marc Quirynen

Content of workshop

This workshop aims to provide you with the skills and knowledge to enhance your patient treatment options through the introduction of a wider range of soft tissue procedures. Delegates will understand the treatment options for soft tissue augmentation and regeneration in implant dentistry. The latest evidence base behind the materials and techniques and newer materials and technology, which support these procedures, will be discussed.

Explore the next generation in reconstructive tissue matrices and understand the advantages this latest alternative to connective tissue grafts (CTG) offers to both the dentist and patient.

Tips for minimally invasive techniques for patient-friendly, soft tissue grafting regeneration in implant dentistry will be discussed during this workshop. Delegates will have the opportunity to increase their understanding through discussion, theory and hands on exercises.

As an additional bonus Prof. Marc Quirynen will discuss recent research that clearly demonstrates that L-PRF® (leukocyte platelet rich fibrin matrices, 2nd generation thrombocyte concentrates) significantly improves wound healing in both soft and hard tissue. The L-PRF® is a matrix derived from the concentration of the patient's own thrombocytes and the L-PRF® matrices are obtained entirely without artificial additives by applying a special protocol. They exhibit excellent processing properties and are enriched with leukocytes and growth factors. In addition to the scientific background, Prof. Dr. Marc Quirynen and Dr. Paul Swanson will also present the results of application in daily dental practice. Be inspired by the biology!

Content of workshop

Today, implant and reconstructive therapies include a variety of clinical steps to optimize biological and esthetical outcomes. Soft tissue grafting procedures are considered an integral part of implant therapy and various techniques and materials are applied at different time-points. Whereas autogenous transplants are still widely used, they are associated with major disadvantages, most prominently the associated morbidity. Therefore, more recently, a number of soft tissue substitutes, predominantly collagen matrices have been developed and some of them demonstrate favorable clinical success and less morbidity compared to autogenous grafts.

Learning objectives:

  • To understand the importance of soft tissue grafting procedures
  • To know indications of autogenous grafts
  • To understand benefits and indications of collagen matrices for gain of keratinized tissue and mucosal thickness

Content of workshop

Dr Abid Faqir (Past President of The Association of Dental Implantology) presents a workshop on the recently launched Straumann® TLX Implant.

The recently launched TLX, with its innovative design, mimics the natural anatomy, respecting the biological distance in all dimensions for optimal soft tissue conditioning. This revolutionary tissue level implant has been perfected for immediacy and is also an excellent option for all other indications to suit your preferred treatment protocol – ranging from immediate to conventional placement and loading.

Dr Faqir will be talking about his first-hand experience using TLX for full arch and single tooth procedures and you will be provided an opportunity to handle the product in person at this exclusive workshop at the ADI.

The Straumann® TLX system forms the perfect complement to the Straumann® BLX system for bone-level implants. Both systems use one common drill set and TorcFit™ connection for maximum compatibility with minimum investment.

  • Optimised for immediate protocols
  • Peri-implant health preservation
  • Simplicity and efficiency
  • Dynamic bone management
  • Real confidence

NOTE* This workshop is suitable for clinicians with practical experience of restorative dentistry and implantology

Content of workshop

After or during implant insertion, it is common to face clinical scenarios in which there is complete absence or a minimal quantity of keratinized tissue, often associated with a reduced depth of the vestibular fornix and a coronal muscle insertion. In these cases, where there are no aesthetic demands, the main objective is to reconstruct/increase the quantity of keratinized mucosa and deepen the vestibule so as to facilitate the performance of oral hygiene by the patient and at the same time reduce the risk of soft tissue dehiscence. The most appropriate surgical technique to obtain those results is the free gingival graft. In the aesthetic area the goal of soft tissue management is to create or recreate the supra crestal soft tissues. The lack of adequate thickness of the buccal soft tissues can lead to incorrect emergence profiles of the prosthetic crown, which are difficult to maintain from a hygienic point of view; in these cases, the main goal of the plastic surgery is not to increase the height of the keratinized tissues but to augment the thickness of the connective tissue at the level of the peri-implant transmucosal portion. This is achieved with a mucogingival bilaminar technique.
