Perimplantitis - what should we be doing?

Purpose of lecture is to update colleagues on the possible causes of peri-implantitis and more importantly to discuss treatment options.

There is a significant increase in the cases of peri-implantitis. The whole dental team from the surgical, restorative to hygienist level must appreciate the existence of peri-implantitis. Early clinical diagnosis is essential. Certain protocols are advised to minimize the risk of peri-implantitis. While protocols exist in the management of peri-implantitis

Hatem Algraffee qualified as a dentist from the Royal London Hospital in 1996. This was followed by a post in oral surgery and private general practice.

He trained as a Specialist Periodontist at Guys London Hospital and gained a masters degree and a masters in clinical dentistry. The four year specialist training was completed by examination of membership in restorative dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons. He gained extensive periodontal, implant and restorative training and experience at Guys hospital and now dedicates his time only to periodontics and implant dentistry.

Hatem works in several specialist centres but dedicates most of his time at 76 Harley Street.

Previous held posts were as a Specialist Clinical Teacher at Guy’s Hospital and as a Specialist Senior Dental Officer for Hammersmith and Fulham NHS trust.
