Winchester Study Club - 08 March 2016

Socket Preservation

Presented by: Peter Sanders
Sponsor: Megagen Implants (UK) Ltd, DENTSPLY Implants UK & Ireland, Sirona Dental Systems Ltd.
Date: 08 March 2016
Time: 1900 Refreshments 1930 Lecture
Location: The Winchester Hotel & Spa, Worthy Lane, Winchester, SO23 7AB

Immediate implant placement and immediate loading have their place with proven predictable success but there are clinical situations where a delayed approach is required. Delaying implant placement can make subsequent treatment more complex, more costly with less predictability. This presentation will review treatment planning decision making following extractions - when to place implant immediately, when to wait and when to consider socket preservation. Having understood the rationale behind the technique we will discuss; the choice in biomaterials; the impact these choices have on treatment; the evidence and treatment protocols so that these techniques can be applied to improve treatment outcomes and predictability.

Learning Objectives: · Review bone resorbtion following extractions · Immediate placement vs delayed · Augmentation options · Socket preservation techniques and biomaterial choice
