Modern periodontal treatment has changed in the course of the years, since the need for aesthetics and the pressure of the patients has shifted the attention from basic function. Nowadays surgical techniques aided by the use of the microscopy and of micro-instruments give the chance to the periodontist to refine his skills and to address the aesthetic needs in a more efficient way.
The presentation will evaluate all aspects of periodontal treatment dealing with aesthetics: periodontal plastic surgery for root coverage and soft tissue augmentation, treatment of infrabony osseous lesions, treatment of ridge defects, periodontal and prosthetic problems, and problems concerning the soft tissue around implants.
Learning Objectives: 1. To understand the meaning of Biomimetics 2. To evaluate the different problems related to periodontal disease and its effects 3. To diagnose and treat all the effects of periodontal disease with biomimetic surgical techniques 4. To put aesthetic and function always into the treatment plan
