MSc or PGDip in Dental Implantology

Course aims:

This course is aimed to equip clinicians with core clinical skills and competency in both the restorative and surgical aspects of implant dentistry, through a combination of clinical support and academic teaching in accordance with the GDP/FGDP training Standards in Implant Dentistry.

Course content:

This is a 3-year part-time course, with the opportunity to step off with a Postgraduate Diploma after 2 years.

In the first two years of the course you will study 4 modules (2 per year) which are arranged in academic teaching blocks running from September to January and February to June. For each module there will be 7 days of academic attendance and a minimum of 4 clinical days (overall 14 academic attendance and 9 clinical days in a year).

The final year is spent working on your research and Dissertation. There are many opportunities for this to be in conjunction with the ICE research team.

All required equipment and patients will be provided to help delegates gain practical experience in a range of implants cases (minimum of 4 patients), alongside the support of a team of experienced dentists and a clinical mentor.

Course Benefits:

Why Study at ICE?

1) A purpose-built implant hospital for you to treat patients that we provide for you.

2) An assessment of your ability at the end of the course for which you will receive a certificate of competence - this is important for the GDC.

3) Study in a Digital Reference Centre: As a Digital Reference Centre, ICE provides you with the means and experience of the whole digital work flow. We are applying new methods to improve the patient experience. We also provide separate University courses on this topic.

4) Evidence-based Dentistry: Lectures delivered from local practitioners to international speakers with an evidence-based approach – this way the course transferable to your clinic.

5) Opportunities for our students to continue their research in their practice after the course has finished.

6) Become a fellow of the BIORD (British Institute of Reconstructive Dentistry) on completion of the course.
