- To give the scientific knowledge for the Nurse to understand the reasons for Implants
- To give the practical training to enable the Nurse to assist with placing Implants
- To give the Nurse the confidence to set up the surgery to Best Practice standard
- To give an overview if Implant systems and instrumentation
Course content:
The course is in 2 parts 1. Academic
Dr Tom Donnelly will discuss with the Nurses the scientific background of Implants. He will give them the knowledge needed to be able to discuss Implants with patients.
He encourages questions as it makes sure the Nurses get what they need from the day.
2. Practical
Mrs Marie Bones has been working with Dr Donnelly for over 20 years and they have developed great teamwork when placing Implants.
The Nurse will have her own gown and be shown how to gown up and how to work during sterile procedures
The Nurse will be shown how to set up the surgery
The Nurse will be shown how to handle instruments and pass them to the Dentist
The Nurse will be shown how to deal with instrumentation with regard to HMT01-05 guidelines
Questions are encouraged throughout so that the Nurse benefits from Marie’s experience. During the nurses practical session have the surgery situation made similar to her own practice, ie. With or without a dirty nurse.
