Review of 20 consecutive immediately loaded maxillary full arch restorations
The presentation is designed primarily to show the practical aspects of immediate full arch maxillary bridge construction. There will be a brief overview of the literature and then a presentation of problems that have arisen in each case, the consequences of these and how they have been overcome.
The material presented will be from four oral and maxillofacial surgeons working with four specialist prosthodontists, using an in-house laboratory for all work.
A range of simple (edentulous with good alveolar bone) and extreme cases (fully dentate / periodontally involved) will be presented utlilising three implant systems and detailing laboratory techniques where relevant.
Kevin Lochhead qualified from Kings College London in 1987. In 1993 he established, and is clinical Director of, Edinburgh Dental Specialists (EDS), a referral only multidisciplinary practice currently comprising:
2 maxillofacial surgeons
2 oral surgeons
1 maxillofacial radiologist
EDS has a support team of 35 staff. The practice also benefits from its own onsite laboratory, with seven technicians and a master ceramist, carrying out all aspects of prosthetic and crown and bridgework.
The practice operates a “team” approach to dental implant care with prosthodontists, periodontists, maxillofacial surgeons, oral surgeons and technicians working closely together on each case. Kevin’s personal experience with dental implants is over 20 years.
EDS is a “multisystem” implant practice. The specialists at EDS have been running a yearlong foundation course in dental implantology for the last 10 years.
Kevin is a key opinion leader for Nobel Biocare and Biomet 3i.
